HEI-Lab Researcher receives ECNP Excellence Award for study on neural changes following Compassion-Focused Therapy in women with overeating

Cristiana de Campos Marques, a researcher at the Mental Health and Clinical Sciences Lab of HEI-Lab, received the ECNP Excellence Award for her study titled “A key role of the putamen in overeating treatment using Compassion Focused Therapy” at the Applied Neuroscience Workshop of the European College of Neuropsychopharmacology (ECNP), held from March 20 to 23, 2025, in Nice, France.

This study was conducted at the Coimbra Institute for Biomedical Imaging and Translational Research (CIBIT) and the Center for Research in Neuropsychology and Cognitive and Behavioral Intervention (CINEICC, Coimbra). It is the first study worldwide to demonstrate neural changes following a psychological treatment for overeating.

Investigadora do HEI-Lab recebe prémio de excelência do ECNP pelo seu trabalho sobre mudanças neurais associadas à Terapia Focada na Compaixão em mulheres com sobreingestão alimentar.

Cristiana de Campos Marques, investigadora do Laboratório Mental Health and Clinical Sciences do HEI-Lab, foi distinguida com o Prémio de Excelência do ECNP pelo seu estudo intitulado “A key role of the putamen in overeating treatment using Compassion Focused Therapy”, que apresentou no Workshop de Neurociências Aplicadas do European College of Neuropsychopharmacology (ECNP), que decorreu de 20 a 23 de março de 2025, em Nice, França. @ECNP

O estudo foi desenvolvido no Coimbra Institute for Biomedical Imaging and Translational Research (CIBIT) e no Center for Research in Neuropsychology and Cognitive and Behavioral Intervention (CINEICC, Coimbra). Trata-se do primeiro estudo a nível mundial a demonstrar mudanças neurais após um tratamento psicológico para a sobreingestão alimentar.
