HEI-Lab Researcher Discusses a New Intervention Methodology for Cyberbullying Among Higher Education Students
Sofia Francisco, a researcher at HEI-Lab, delivered a presentation titled “Cyberbullying Podcasts: A New Methodology to Foster Empathy and Reduce Moral Disengagement” at the World Anti-Bullying Forum, held from 11–13 June in Stavanger, Norway.
In her presentation, the researcher demonstrated that an intervention based on AI-generated podcasts was effective in reducing empathy-related difficulties among university students. The dynamic podcast format facilitated empathetic connection and a sense of closeness with the characters, encouraging reflection and critical thinking.
This new methodology proves to be a promising tool for future interventions in the fight against cyberbullying.

Sofia Francisco, investigadora do HEI-Lab, apresentou uma comunicação intitulada “Cyberbullying Podcasts: A new methodology to fostering Empathy and Reducing Moral Disengagement” no World Anti-Bullying Forum, que decorreu nos dias 11 a 13 de Junho em Stavanger, Noruega.
Nesta comunicação, a investigadora mostrou que uma intervenção baseada em podcasts gerados por inteligência artificial foi eficaz na redução das dificuldades relacionadas com a empatia em estudantes universitários. O formato dinâmico dos podcasts facilitou uma conexão empática e um sentido de proximidade com as personagens, incentivando a reflexão e o pensamento crítico.
Esta nova metodologia demonstra ser uma ferramenta promissora para intervenções futuras no combate ao cyberbullying.
