HEI-Lab Showcases EU-Funded Creative Research at the Leading International Animation Studies Conference

AH While We Wait and the EU FUNDED Healing Nature Animation research projects presented at the 36th Society for Animation Studies Conference

The Society of Animation Studies is the leading international Conference on Animation studies encompassing practice and theoretical research in the field.

Dr. Natalie Woolf and Dr. Lea Viakovic presented their creative research collaboration with Dr. Pedro Serrazina and colleagues from the Psychology department and research centre HEI-Lab (Dr. Ana Beato, Dr. Ana Loureiro and Dr. Isabel Santos), at the 36th Society for Animation Studies Conference. The goal was to showcase some of the animations created with the selected students of the BA and MA Animation Courses at Lusófona: Maria Reis Rocha, Paulo Diogo Simão, (MA) Adriana Andrade, Felipe Kenji, Feno Dias, Theo Quinhones (BA).

At the conference, they presented a paper on the practice-based animation research project, funded by an ILIND Seed Grant, to explore the potential role of animation in enhancing well-being and reducing anxiety in paediatric hospital waiting areas, reflecting on the practice, process, and the theoretical and interdisciplinary frameworks that shaped the work. This research will now be going forward supported by a European Union Grant for Creative Research that enables a joint project across three countries and three hospitals working with HDLU- Association of Croatian Artists, Lusófona University Lisbon and New Bulgarian University.

Together the professors are currently recruiting the new team to work on the still and animated elements for the Healing Nature project and hope to announce more progress in the near future.

While We Wait e o projecto de investigação em animação Healing Nature, financiado pela União Europeia, apresentados na 36.ª Conferência da Society for Animation Studies

A Society for Animation Studies é a principal conferência internacional dedicada aos estudos de animação, abrangendo investigação teórica e prática na área.

As Dr.as Natalie Woolf e Lea Viakovic apresentaram a sua colaboração de investigação criativa com o Dr. Pedro Serrazina e as investigadoras do Departamento de Psicologia e centro de investigação HEI-Lab (Dr.ª Ana Beato, Dr.ª Ana Loureiro e Dr.ª Isabel Santos) na 36.ª Conferência da Society for Animation Studies. O objectivo foi apresentar algumas das animações desenvolvidas com estudantes seleccionados das Licenciaturas e Mestrados em Animação da Universidade Lusófona: Maria Reis Rocha, Paulo Diogo Simão, Adriana Andrade (Mestrado), Felipe Kenji, Feno Dias e Theo Quinhones (Licenciatura).

Na conferência, foi apresentado um artigo sobre o projecto de investigação prática em animação, financiado por uma bolsa ILIND Seed Grant, que explora o potencial da animação na promoção do bem-estar e na redução da ansiedade em salas de espera pediátricas. A apresentação incluiu uma reflexão sobre a prática, o processo e os enquadramentos teóricos e interdisciplinares que sustentaram o trabalho.

Esta investigação avança agora com o apoio de um financiamento da União Europeia para investigação criativa, que permitirá um projecto conjunto entre três países e três hospitais, em colaboração com a HDLU – Associação de Artistas Croatas, a Universidade Lusófona (Lisboa) e a New Bulgarian University.

Actualmente, os professores estão a recrutar a nova equipa que irá desenvolver os elementos fixos e animados do projecto Healing Nature e esperam anunciar mais progressos num futuro próximo.
