HEI-Lab researchers present on perinatal mental health at SRIP 45th Annual Conference
Raquel Costa and Tiago Pinto, researchers at the Human Relationships and Development Laboratory of the HEI-Lab, and 2nd-year PhD students Daniela Fidalgo, Daniela Tavares, Francisca Teixeira and Matilde Sousa, participated in the 45th Annual Conference of the Society for Reproductive and Infant Psychology, which took place in Liverpool, United Kingdom, from 26 to 28 August.
As part of the conference, they presented two symposia entitled “New advances in the assessment of perinatal mental health, childbirth experiences, and parenting” and “New insights into the understanding of childbirth related posttraumatic stress disorder from the INTERSECT study: prevalence, etiology, impact and unmet needs in mental health care”, as well as two oral communications “Partner support during childbirth and women’s mental health in postpartum period: The moderating role of history of mental health problems” and “Seeking for formal mental healthcare for children and adolescence: A systematic review of barriers and facilitators”.
The researchers presented evidence on new screening measures in perinatal mental health, childbirth experiences and parenting, as well as new insights into the understanding of childbirth-related posttraumatic stress disorder. In addition, they shared findings on the role of partner support during childbirth in women’s postpartum mental health, and on unmet needs in perinatal mental health.

Raquel Costa e Tiago Miguel Pinto, investigadores do Laboratório de Relações e Desenvolvimento Humano do HEI-Lab, juntamente com Daniela Fidalgo, Daniela Tavares, Francisca Teixeira e Matilde Sousa, estudantes de doutoramento em Psicologia Clínica, Orientação Cognitivo-Comportamental, participaram no 45.º Congresso da Society for Reproductive and Infant Psychology, que decorreu em Liverpool, Reino Unido, nos dias 26 a 28 de agosto.
No âmbito do congresso, apresentaram dois simpósios intitulados “New advances in the assessment of perinatal mental health, childbirth experiences, and parenting” e “New insights into the understanding of childbirth related posttraumatic stress disorder from the INTERSECT study: prevalence, etiology, impact and unmet needs in mental health care”, bem como duas comunicações orais intituladas “Partner support during childbirth and women’s mental health in postpartum period: The moderating role of history of mental health problems” e “Seeking for formal mental healthcare for children and adolescence: A systematic review of barriers and facilitators”.
Os investigadores apresentaram evidência sobre novas medidas de rastreio em saúde mental perinatal, experiências de parto e parentalidade, bem como novos contributos para a compreensão do stress pós-traumático relacionado com o parto, o papel do apoio do parceiro durante o parto na saúde mental das mulheres no pós-parto e sobre lacunas na prestação de cuidados de saúde mental perinatal.
