Abstract
Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) is a serious public health problem that affects approximately 25% of women in the perinatal period worldwide. Women exposed to IPV during pregnancy exhibit more physical and mental health problems, use fewer health care services and their infants are at increased risk of negative health outcomes. Additionally, significant evidence also suggests that women’s exposure to IPV during the perinatal period is linked to offspring regulatory outcomes.
The main aim of the PERI_IPV is to analyze the impact of perinatal IPV on maternal perinatal mental health, parenting, and infant development across the first 6 months postpartum.
Peri_IPV findings will provide evidence of the impact of perinatal IPV on maternal perinatal mental health, parenting, and infant development, as well as on the dimensions involved in this impact. This evidence has a high social impact, by informing health and social interventions targeting IPV families focusing on pregnancy and the postpartum period, and infant development over the first months of life.
