Diogo Lamela

Diogo Lamela holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Minho and is currently an Associate Professor in Developmental Psychopathology and Child Clinical Psychology at Lusófona University – Porto University Center. He serves as the Deputy Director of the Digital Human-Environment Interaction Lab and Deputy Director of the Clinical Psychology Program at Lusófona University. His research focuses on the multifaceted aspects of child maltreatment, examining developmental and clinical processes within the context of intimate partner violence, coparenting dynamics, and high-conflict divorces. Diogo Lamela has authored 46 articles in international journals and has been involved in eight funded research projects. Diogo Lamela is actively engaged in international research networks focusing on child abuse, child protection, and coparenting. This involvement is evident in submissions for European funding, cross-cultural research, and contributions to research outputs and advocacy effects for child maltreatment surveillance and clinical care guidelines for child maltreatment survivors in Europe. He serves on the editorial boards of international and national journals, participates in advisory boards for research projects, and is an expert for the European Commission in the Citizens, Equality, Rights, and Values Programme, specifically in the prevention and combat of gender-based violence and violence against children. Diogo Lamela contributes significantly to knowledge translation activities, notably as a scientific supervisor for multidisciplinary teams supporting courts in child protection and civil guardianship procedures (Porto Social Security Institute – Ministry of Labor, Solidarity, and Social Security).
