Universidade Lusófona Hosts Lecture on Relational Neuroscience by Dr. Pascal Vrticka
On December 4th at 18:00, Universidade Lusófona invites you to a thought-provoking lecture by Dr. Pascal Vrticka, Professor at the Department of Psychology, University of Essex.
Dr. Vrticka will present on “Relational Neuroscience: Insights from fNIRS Hyperscanning Research,” offering cutting-edge insights into the neurobiological foundations of human interaction and communication.
Relational neuroscience, an emerging field within second-person social neuroscience, explores interpersonal neural synchrony (INS) using hyperscanning—a method that simultaneously measures brain activity in two or more individuals. Dr. Vrticka will discuss:
- The dimensions of interpersonal closeness and interactivity in relational neuroscience.
- How INS integrates with other synchrony modalities, such as physiology, endocrinology, and behavior.
- Findings from his hyperscanning research in families and romantic relationships, with a focus on attachment theory.
Dr. Vrticka’s presentation will challenge common assumptions, showing that greater synchrony is not always indicative of better outcomes in human interactions.
This event is a must-attend for anyone interested in the science of human connection and its implications for psychology and neuroscience. Save the date and join Universidade Lusófona for this engaging and insightful session!
