The PhD student in Clinical Psychology at Universidade Lusófona, University Center of Porto, Ana Morais, won a Scholarship from the SRIP (Society for Reproductive and Infant Psychology) Mentorship Programme 2024.
As a member of the INTERSECT research team in Portugal, her research focuses on identifying profiles of perinatal mental health symptoms and analyzing their impact on parenting neurophysiology and behavior.
With over eight years of experience working with vulnerable populations, such as refugee mothers in Italy, Ana brings a rich background to her work. Under the specialized mentorship of Dr. Livio Provenzi at the Developmental Psychobiology Lab at the University of Pavia, Italy, Ana has proposed a scholarship project with the primary objective of deepening the understanding of the impact of perinatal mental health problems on parenting behavior and neurophysiology.
Over five days, Ana was observing data collection and analyzing behavioral and neurophysiological data from Dr. Provenzi's research projects, receiving guidance on data collection and implementation for dropout strategies.
Beyond the initial five-day program, their collaboration will continue, where Dr. Provenzi will provide support for behavioral data analysis in the publication of a research paper titled "Investigating the Effects of Women’s Prenatal Depression and Anxiety Symptom Profiles on Parenting Behavior".
