Joana Patrícia Pereira de Carvalho

Joana Carvalho (PhD) is an assistant professor of Psychology at Porto University, where she is the principal investigator of the Research Group in Human Sexuality, serving the direction board of the Research Center in Psychology (CPUP). Her main scientific interests relate to the cognitive and emotional factors underpinning sexual dysfunction and hypersexuality, experimental sex research, and sexual violence phenomenon. Carvalho is an associated editor in the Journal of Sexual Medicine and Frontiers in Psychology, and an editorial board member in Sexes. She is currently chairing the Consultation and Guidelines Committee of the International Society of Sexual Medicine, and leading other working groups within the field of clinical and forensic sexology.
